I literally can’t articulate in words how grateful I am for Dorotheea, and Kamea Events.

I live in New York but my then boyfriend and I both grew up in Oregon, and wanted to get married in a place that would feel familiar to us and our (very different) families. We decided on a beautiful little beach town on the Oregon coast and a family-only, micro-wedding style celebration! My husband and I definitely took the road less traveled in getting to this day.... and after a decade together - we knew we wanted it to be personal and meaningful, with every detail curated and considered.....but we really had no idea where to start needed help on the ground.  I think I actually started by googling something like: ‘best+oregon+coast+elopement-wedding-planner’.  I found Dorotheea by tracing back one of the images in my moodboard back to her website. I spoke to several others, but I loved her work and we knew Dorotheea was our first choice after the first conversation with her. We partnered with her on planning, decor/styling, and day-of coordination for a 15 person wedding. The biggest aha moment for me was when we kicked off planning and Dorotheea gave us the advice to first focus on what she called the ‘creative contributors’ of the day ie. decor/styling, photographer and florist. Knowing that she would be in charge of decor and styling, I felt completely confident in her taste level, her talent, and her ability to set the aesthetic tone of the day. She presented her recos on other creative vendors she thought might be a good fit. With careful thought and consideration and TONS of advice from Dorotheea on how to even evaluate different vendors, we chose Clark Miller as our wonderful photographer, and Alisha at for the love of floral as our amazing florist. 

Planning: Leading up to the wedding she was incredible - laying out the path forward in a way that felt totally manageable, and never losing patience when I got overwhelmed anyway and asked the same questions over and over. She was attentive and supportive and organized and creative.

Decor: Dorotheea is an incredible artist and I knew I couldn’t be in better hands.  At that point I had such a deep understanding of what each vendor was capable of - so the thought of them all collaborating was super exciting. The brief for the decor was simple “I know whatever you do will be beautiful - surprise me!”  And oh boy, am I glad I did - she went beyond what I ever could’ve imagined!!!

The day of: Dorotheea and the team arrived midday and my knee-jerk reaction was to get everyone acquainted with the space and introduce everyone to the family - but she calmly took control immediately, and kindly suggested I “have another mimosa, focus on relaxing, and enjoy get ready!” She was a dream. I must have hugged her a million times that day. Every single minute of the day was carefully coordinated and Dorothea seamlessly integrated into our family as if she’d become a part of it... it never felt rushed, awkward or invasive... 

Dorotheea is a true professional as well as a lovely person with so much grace. She built the blue print for a dream I never even knew I had, and assembled the team that skillfully brought to life what was unequivocally the most magical day of our lives. It captured exactly who we are and reflected the warmth of our families coming together. 

I still well up with tears of joy just thinking about all of it now...... such an absolutely perfect day in every way. If you remember NOTHING else from this review - remember this: Hire a wedding planner!  No matter how type A you think you are, you cannot underestimate the value of having someone there who has done this before and has your back at every point. And you will never regret hiring Kamea Events, they are worth their weight in gold!!!

We had the privilege of working with Dorotheea at Kamea Events for our wedding on Sept 14, 2019. We initially landed on Kamea Events via Instagram, we loved her style/aesthetic and knew that she was the perfect fit for our vision, and by chance had availability! We booked Dorotheea for full planning, and day of coordination services, and gave her total creative control. Our wedding date was extra special because it was also our daughter's first birthday - so we wanted to be sure to incorporate her, and this first milestone in our plans for the day. Dorotheea more than exceeded our expectations, and throughout the whole process we were free from worry and stress as we knew we were in good hands. From the bigger rentals and logistics, all the way down to the smallest detail, everything was absolutely perfect. Day-of, I never wanted for a thing, because Dorotheea had literally everything covered. My only wish is that we could do it all over again, and slow down to take in all the beautiful things she created - from the tablescapes, to the outdoor "living room" areas, the whole day was a dream. Always hire a wedding planner, and always look for Kamea's availability first. Their services are more than worth the investment, and though I don't plan on having another wedding (haha!) I would hire Dorotheea again in a heartbeat! We can't thank you enough!”

"Dorotheea is one of the most amazing humans I have ever met. I don’t say that lightly. Everything I have seen her put her hands to has turned out so good! Including my very own wedding. I met with Dorotheea when I was completely overwhelmed and frustrated with trying to figure out how to make my vision for my wedding come to life and make it cost effective for 250 guests. I did not have the time to research prices and shop around with only a six month engagement process, but from the moment I met with her I felt so much stress and weight fall off my shoulders. She took the time to listen to my vision, provide advice, and shop around for the cheapest prices of everything from candles to linens. What I appreciated the most with Dorotheea is that she didn’t tell me my ideas were not going to work or try to convenience me to go another direction, but she truly partnered with my vision and over exceeded my expectations of the perfect elegant/romantic wedding. Another thing I appreciated was this girl's communication skills. She communicates quick and never leaves you hanging and always keeps you informed which was so refreshing during the wedding planning process.
